James Donegan is a New York-based actor, singer, and sometimes (God help us) dancer. Last Fall, James opened the new edition of Forbidden Broadway: Rude Awakening (most notably as Raúl Esparza, Harvey Fierstein and many more). Other New York and regional credits include Company (Bobby), Hello, Dolly! (Cornelius) My Fair Lady (Freddy), Jesus Christ Superstar (Jesus), Evita (Che), Triumph of Love (Agis), Roberta (Huck), and Hair (Berger).

Also in New York, James is lucky enough to be a part of many new musicals in development, including the hilarious The Kid by Jack Lechner and Andy Monroe, The One that Got Away by Jack Lechner and Denver Casado, Cold Comfort Farm by Bob Gutowski and W. Brent Sawyer, and Sympathy Jones (with Kate Shindle) by Masi Asari and Brooke Pierce … just to name a few.

His recording So Much Spring (“Sexy newcomer Donegan makes an auspicious debut…”—NEXT Magazine) is available on iTunes or CD Baby. He is also featured on the Forbidden Broadway: Rude Awakening on DRG, as well as the upcoming Allegro on Sony Classics.

James was born-and-raised in Seguin, Texas where his family still resides. He received his undergraduate education in communication and marketing from Trinity University in San Antonio before earning his artist’s certificate in art direction from the Portfolio Center in Atlanta.

He currently resides in New York City where he also teaches voice, maintains a thriving graphic & web design business, and works as a nutritional lifestyle coach.

James is a proud member of Actor’s Equity Association, the American Federation of Television & Radio Artists, and the American Guild of Musical Artists.
